Earthweave 100% biodegradable green carpet
No, we’re not referring to the color green. Although that IS what we inherited with the purchase of our home. Needless to say, our indoor “lawn” met the same dire fate as the outdoor lawn. But, I digress - here’s the news:
Earthweave offers a Bio-Floor line of carpet that is 100% biodegradable. No VOC emitting chemicals such as dyes, pesticides or stain protectors are applied to the main ingredient; pure wool. Hardy hemp is used as the “primary” – material that a tufting machine uses to keep the wool in place. It is strong, durable and resistant to mold and mildew. In addition, this company uses natural, non-toxic, biodegradable adhesives extracted from rubber plants.
The Enertia padding is a coarse blend of naturally pigmented wool that is also free from toxic chemicals. This natural padding will last many years and when it’s time for replacement, Earthweave urges us to put the old material to good use by recycling it in the garden as mulch. Talk about cradle to cradle!
This doesn’t, however, add up to a sacrifice in beauty or quality. The sensuous texture and warm neutrals bring elegance and warmth to any décor. http://www.earthweave.com/
